Mirror Module

To direct light focused by a large mirror onto clusters of multi-junction cells, REhnu uses a unique optical configuration, as shown below. The mirror is dish shaped, bringing the sunlight to a point focus (as opposed to the line focus of trough mirrors). At the focus the light enters a small (6-inch diameter and weighing 6 pounds) Power Converter Unit, or PCU, through a ball lens (1). Inside the PCU is a unique origami-optics reflector (2) which divides all light uniformly among 36 multi-junction cells, at 1000x concentration. The cells are mounted on 4 circuit cards, nine cells to a card (3). Each card generates 200W, for a total module power output of 800W.
